The gold standard
Tried and tested over more than 50 years with millions of patients, the Haag-Streit Goldmann applanation tonometer AT 900 is the gold standard for fast and reproducible Intra-Ocular Pressure (IOP) measurement.
Goldmann Applanation Tonometer
Setting the standard in tonometry
Haag-Streit offers a comprehensive range of tonometers and accessories. The AT 900 and AT 900 D Goldmann tonometers attach to the slit lamp and pivot in front of the microscope for the examination. The observation of the applanated surface is conducted monocularly – only through the left eyepiece.
Disposable tonometer prisms (such as Tonosafe) or reusable Goldmann measuring prisms can be used with either fixed or hand-held tonometers, such as the Perkins Mk3.
Two instruments - one gold standard
Haag-Streit offers two models of the Goldmann applanation tonometer. The AT 900 is a purely mechanical instrument and the AT 900 D introduces advantages from digital technology.
Thanks to the high precision of manufacturing at Haag-Streit, the Goldmann applanation tonometer offers reliable performance over many years without the need for manufacturer maintenance. The tonometer provides reproducible results, contributing to the improved diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic conditions.
Slit lamp compatibility
The Haag-Streit Goldmann applanation tonometers are mounted in different ways depending on which slit lamp is being used. The tonometers are compatible with all models of Haag-Streit slit lamps, including the BQ 900, BP 900, BI 900, BM 900 and BD 900.
BQ type tonometer
The BQ type applanation tonometer fits the Haag-Streit slit lamps BQ 900 and BP 900. It provides a parking position and can be easily be moved into place for working. The applanated surface is observed monocularly through the right eyepiece of the stereo microscope.
R Type tonometer
The R type applanation tonometer fits the BI 900, BM 900 and BD 900 as well as many third-party slit lamps. It can be left on the slit lamp permanently. It is fastened to the microscope on a mounting base and swivelled in front of the microscope for the examination. The observation of the applanated surface is conducted monocularly – only through the left eyepiece.
T Type tonometer
The T type applanation tonometer fits the Haag-Streit slit lamps BQ 900, BP 900, BM 900 and BI 900. It is set on a guide plate over the slit lamp axis. The instrument can be moved between two positions on the guide plate for observation through the right or left eyepiece. The tonometer is placed on the slit lamp only when applanation tonometry is performed.
Disposable tonometer prisms
Tonosafe™ is a disposable measuring prism for all Goldmann applanation tonometers as well as the Perkins tonometer. Tonosafe™ disposable prisms are a convenient, effective method of reducing the risk of cross infection between patients.
Excellent optical quality
The reusable Goldmann measuring prisms are distinguished by their optical and mechanical performance which allows for fast and reliable measurements in daily practice. They are largely handmade by experienced workers, and are checked for tight tolerances in weight, optical quality, durability and for consistent measurement results.
Simple and safe disinfection of reusable prisms
For an efficient disinfecting routine, we recommend the Haag-Streit Desinset. This instrument set is ideal for the disinfection of reusable tonometer measuring prisms and comprises a cleaning and storage container.
Haag-Streit fluorescein strips are used for the purpose of diagnosis on the anterior outer parts of the eye. Fluorescein is used to stain the tear fluid on the cornea during applanation tonometry and diagnosis.
Not available in the EEA, USA and in Switzerland.
The check weight is to be used as part of the monthly control procedure. Five circles are engraved on the weight bar. The middle one corresponds to drum position 0, the two immediately to the left and right to position 2, then the outer ones to position 6.
One of the marks on the weight corresponding to drum position 2 is set precisely on the index mark of the weight holder. For more details, please check the manual.
