Innovations in Ophthalmology

Titanic Hotel, Liverpool

Haag-Streit UK is delighted to announce two early evening lectures, focussing on recent innovations in eyecare.

Hill Radial Basis Function (RBF) - Peter Wilson will present the revolutionary Hill RBF IOL Calculator, a new data driven method for IOL power selection in cataract surgery, which dramatically improves refractive accuracy. The Hill RBF approach is driven by an advanced, self-validating method using pattern recognition, based on artificial intelligence and sophisticated data interpolation. Starting with a large number of cases, where the biometry and the outcomes are known, RBF is capable of finding distinct patterns in the apparently random cloud of data-points. The Hill-RBF Calculator has been optimised for use with the Haag-Streit LENSTAR LS 900 biometer.

Laser Vitreolysis - Lucia Pelosini will present the latest developments in Laser vitreolysis, a highly effective, outpatient-based procedure, which involves the use of a nano-pulsed YAG laser to vaporize vitreous strands and opacities (floaters). With recent advancements in technology and laser capabilities, surgeons now have the means to help symptomatic patients hindered by floaters with a simple procedure which offers a low rate of complication and highly successful patient outcomes. The new Ultra Q Reflex from Ellex is the only YAG laser designed to perform both anterior and posterior YAG treatments – and is ideally suited for the treatment of floaters.

The event will be chaired by Grant Duncan, Clinical Education and Training Manager with Haag-Streit UK, and there will be an opportunity for delegates to see both the LENSTAR and Ultra Q Reflex systems.

Drinks and canapes will be served in the VIP section of the Titanic’s Rum bar from 5:00pm with lectures from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.

We’d be delighted if you could join us for what promises to be an informative event. To reserve a FREE place, please email
