Why Tonosafe™?

Accurate
Calibrated to Goldmann standards, Tonosafe™ delivers accurate results with all Goldmann and Perkins contact tonometers.

1. Is Tonosafe™ clinically validated?
Support Tonosafe™ has been clinically validated by many papers over a 10 year period. Salvi et al. (2004) purports that it can be used for both screening and routine clinical use.

2. Isn‘t Tonosafe™ too expensive for daily use?
Many hospitals who are now using Tonosafe™ have actually managed to save money and free up both doctor and nurse time by not having to sterilise prisms. Economic analysis illustrates that if it takes longer than 2 minutes (on average) to sterilise each prism – then it would have been cheaper and thus more cost effective to have purchased Tonosafe™!

3. Is Tonosafe™ difficult to use?
Our Tonosafe™ customers have found that Tonosafe™ is actually very simple to use, and generally takes no longer than using conventional prisms. Additionally, using Tonosafe™ for Tonometry usually manages to save time by the omission of the sterilisation process. Furthermore, having a separate ‘prism head’ that is disposed after use and a ‘holder’ that is retained for 19 additional uses, is actually more environmentally friendly than our competitors products, as we produce lower levels of wastage!

4. I have never had any cross infection or contamination issues, so why do I need to use Tonosafe™?
Very often the effects of cross infection manifest themselves some time after the consultation. If this is the case then general practitioners, rather than the original consultant specialist may detect the infection. Many of our current customers understand this and have opted to use Tonosafe™ to reduce the risk of infections, corneal burns and the possibility of litigation that may result. Infections control departments within hospitals are the key drivers within this field.

5. I am happy to continue using my current reusable prism – why should I change?
Please ask yourself the following questions:-. How old is your current prism? What condition is it in?
How are you currently auditing and managing its usage? How often do you replace it? How much time does all this take? What are the true costs involved? – Surely it would be simpler to use a disposable solution like Tonosafe™ that can be used once and disposed of after use! Helping you to save money and free-up both doctor and nurse time by not having to sterilise the prism?
