Octopus Features
Octopus perimeters convince with Reliability, Versatility and Speed
Octopus programs are adapted to the physiology and thus closer to the pathology. Just like the award winning G program - an Octopus standard since 1985 - designed by Prof. Josef Flammer of the University Basel. It follows the nerve fiber bundles and has a higher resolution in the macula to catch paracentral scotoma and better reflect the quality-of-life.
Octopus Programs
Octopus programs are flexible and test crucial test locations first. Test programs are divided into phases. A test starts in the central 30°. If peripheral information is required, the test is continued. All information remains in a single examination that can easily be followed up.
Reliability
Displacements and blinks influence the examination flow in realtime. If a stimulus presentation interferes with a blink, the corresponding response is ignored and the same stimulus presentation repeated later in the test. In addition, non-contact sensors detect if the head is in the correct position.
Versatility
The Octopus perimeters are capable of running standard white/white perimetry including low vision tests, blue/yellow (SWAP - short wavelength automated perimetry), Flicker (critical flicker fusion frequency testing) and the Octopus 900 also Goldmann Kinetic perimetry.
In the custom test mode the Octopus 900 furthermore allows any combination of stimulus (white, blue, red) and background (white, yellow).
Speed
Octopus perimeters are designed for easy, straight forward operation to allow for the best possible productivity. With the optional TOP threshold strategy that only takes 2:30 minutes per eye, you can have both eyes tested and the results on your computer screen within 6 minutes!
