Shammas No-History for post refractive cases

Accurate IOL power calculation for post refractive patients even if no clinical history is available

The Shammas No-History method for the calculation of post LASIK and PRK eyes is accurate and easy to use since it only needs biometry with the LENSTAR.

It has first been published by Dr. John Shammas in 2007 in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Ever since then its efficacy as compared to other no-history as well as history based methods has been documented in several peer reviewed papers.

Efficacy for post refractive patients

Calculation of the IOL power for patients after laser vision correction remains a difficult task. Often there is no data available of their corneal status before the laser correction and even data of the refractive change might be difficult to get. The Shammas No-History provides the user with reliable IOL prediction even if there is no clinical history available. McCarthy et al. showed in their 2011 publication on post laser refractive formulae the efficacy of the Sammas-No History method as compared to other popular IOL power methodologies. These findings are well in agreement with the results of a study by Wang et al. published in 2010.
