OLCR
Pachµmeter
The OLCR Pachµmeter gives corneal thickness measurements
of an unparalleled accuracy and reproducibility - 1micron.
This is a non-contact device requiring no
drops
little skill
to operate and
no discomfort
to the patient.

Utilising the
latest in Optical Low Coherence Reflectometry technology, it is the
perfect tool for those, such as Refractive Excimer users, Glaucoma
specialists and others, looking for that bit "extra" with regards
both speed and accuracy of measurement.

The OLCR Pachµmeter comes in two versions: |
Slit
Lamp-Mounted
Can be mounted
to any existing HAAG-STREIT Slit lamp (BM
900, BP
900,
BD 900, BQ
900 and BX
900) and also to those HS copies which accept the C/M
type Goldmann Tonometer.
It is important to understand that during measurement only the binoculars
of the slit lamp are used. True slit lamp skills are not needed in
order to take a corneal thickness measurement - so it can be taken
by anyone. The slit lamp is used as the mount because of its stability
and ability to take of-centre thickness measurements whilst ensuring
that the measuring beam is always perpendicular to the spot being
measured (i.e.always measuring directly through, rather than across,
the cornea) |

Excimer Laser-Mounted
With additional software (provided) and a laptop or computer, the
OLCR Pachµmeter can, as opposed to the single-measurements
of the slit lamp-mounted version, measure continuously and on-line.
With the cooperation of your excimer supplier it is therefore possible
to mount the
OLCR Pachµmeter through the ablating beam to enable a
continuous thickness reading to be taken, displayed and recorded throughout
the whole ablation process. The end result is a complete history,
with "flags" marking key events-flap cutting, flap opening,
ablation, flap closure etc. - , of the whole procedure.
Corneal
Thickness / Tonometry
Contained within the software of either system is a programme called
"Tonofit". This
programme allows for the entry, after a corneal thickness measurement
has been taken, of the measured IOP (contact or non-contact - they
all require correction according to corneal thickness change) and
the recalculation of this to give an actual IOP.
In view of
the continuing debate concerning both what constitutes a "normal"
corneal thickness and what formula should be used to compensate
for thickness change. "Tonofit" contains a factory default
formula (as a guideline) and the space for three extra formula to
be easily entered by the user according to either their own experience
or to firm guidelines as and when these are determined.
